JOSEPH LENTUNYOI
lead trainer

Joseph is the lead trainer and Permaculture consultant, bringing a wealth of teaching experience to the table. Joseph has a BA in Organic Agriculture and has worked with Kenya Institute of Organic Farming as well as the Sustainability programme at Nyumbani village.

He took his PDC with Geoff Lawton in Tanzania in 2007 and completed his Permaculture TOT on a three months internship with Geoff at his farm in Australia. He has experience teaching and implementing permaculture in a variety of contexts, from the drylands of Laikipia and Somaliland to the coast of Tanzania and the varied landscapes of California. Joseph now runs the LaikipiaPermacultre Centre developing in to a real permaculture hub and working with communities in the region. Joseph’s particular areas of expertise are earthworks in drylands.

PRISCILLA NZAMALU
Programme and Consultancy Design

Priscilla, from Kibwezi region, has a background in Biological Siences with a Bsc in Botany and Zoology, she also has a Masters in Training in Rural Extension and Transformation/Teaching and a Post graduate diploma in Food and Nutrition Security, Certificate in The Right to Food and Nutrition Security, Project Management, Conflict transformation, Anamed (Natural Medicines) besides other courses. Priscilla took her PDC with John Sheffy in May 2012 and our Training of Trainers Programme and Consultancy Design in 2014 and 2015 with Warren Brush and has since assisted on consultancies and trainings with PRI. She chose to take the PDC, to dive deeper into learning the importance of sustainability and different natural systems, the soil, plants and animals and how to enhance ecosystems. She has a special interest in health and nutrition.

With support from the Slow Food movement, she has been involved in installing thirteen water tanks in seven community groups, three families, and six schools. Sixteen Kitchen gardens have been established and more health vegetable for the kitchens have been produced and used. This is contributing to improved health of those implementing the knowledge and skills learnt. Priscilla aims to enhance her skills through more training and being a mentor in her community

PETER ASH
organic farmer

Peter isan organic farmer with over 40 years’ experience in the field. He is also a Master Composter, environmental educator, trained naturalist and permaculture designer. At home in San Diego, California Peter owns and operates Pete’s Organic Grove & Garden Service specializing in edible landscapes. Peter also owns Straight Ash Environmental Solutions, an international consulting agency on Integrated Waste Management, Sustainable Food Systems, and Permaculture Design. Peter teaches and consults on projects in Africa, America, Europe, and India. His passion for preserving and restoring degraded ecosystems is reflected in all his work. “Inspired by nature, I design systems for future generations.”

WARREN BRUSH
permaculture design consultant

Warrenis a global permaculture design consultant, educator, a mentor, storyteller, a certified Permaculture designer and teacher. He has worked for over 25 years in sustainable systems design for communities, private and public organizations, households, small holder farms, and conservation properties worldwide.

His passion is to inspire people of all ages to discover, nurture and express their inherent gifts while living in a sustainable manner. He works extensively throughout five continents and is a consultant for USAID’s African Food for Peace programs.

Warren is co-founder and tender of Quail Springs Permaculture, Regenerative Earth Enterprises, Sustainable Vocations, Wilderness Youth Project, Casitas Valley Farm and Creamery and his Permaculture design company, True Nature Design.He is also an advising founder of the Permaculture Research Institute of Kenya

CESAR LOZIA
expert in cob-building

Cesar is our international expert in cob-building from Spain. The last five years, he has been developed as “natural builder”. The first contact was in Spain for two years with his friend and teacher Javier, they were involved in several projects in the north of Spain with private resources. After that, he spent nine months in Canada as intern and teacher in a sustainable community (O.U.R. Ecovillage).

He left it to establish with his friend and mentor, Patrick Hennebery, a global teaching and bio-building project (www.cobworks.com). This activity is being grown mainly in Canada, Mexico and a few small actions in United States. Also, as cofounder with Adrian Shelley in “StoneWood Designs”, a bio building company established in British Columbia. Now, he is very excited to spread the seed in Africa with the Laikipia Permaculture Center project, trying to return and put in value the traditional building techniques.
