Cob Building Workshops

What if the design and construction of a building could improve the ecological health of the ecosystem where it is sited? This is what permaculture strives to do through architectural design and siting of home structures. Permaculture helps you design and build structures that are both strikingly beautiful and sustainable.

The course is appropriate for both first-time builders and for professionals in the building trade who are interested in natural materials.

Eco-lodges and Accommodation facilities
The Laikipia Permaculture Centre eco-lodge offers 5 cottages, which can accommodate families, couples or friends that wish to spend time in nature while learning more about permaculture. Additionally, LPC has added one modern cottage consisting of 4 executive rooms and a balcony that overlooks both Loldaiga Hills and Mt. Kenya. Both the cottages are environmentally friendly as they are made of cob and natural stones.
Camping Site Facilities
Our campsite is a peaceful open space surrounded by either our food forest, our green house or our kitchen garden. It makes an ideal base for a holiday or overnight stay for individuals, families, cyclists, walkers, and groups. We encourage guests to enjoy nature and the natural environment. Our campsite comprise a safari tent up to 3 people, 6 double tents and 4 single tents that can be rented. You are also welcome to pitch your own tent at any place you like. For cold nights we have a campfire site to warm up while watching the stars.
Kariunga Organic Restaurant
The Laikipia Permaculture Centre Limited operates an organic restaurant which allows our visitors to experience ‘Farm to Folk’ foods which are organic and are grown in our farm. This facility is open to everyone as it is well equipped and has a chef on the ground always. The restaurant is located in a serene environment overlooking Loldaiga Hills and Mt. Kenya which allows you to do your work, meetings and conferencing with free connectivity to WI-FI . The centre also operates conference halls which are open for hire.
Permaculture Consultations
LPC offers professional permaculture design consultancy in Kenya and outside Kenya. We have worked with a number of NGOs around East Africa as well as Somaliland. We have also worked with businesses. A permaculture design for your project, business or private farm can help turn your site into a productive and truly sustainable site, with innovative solutions for increasing soil fertility, conserving water, enhancing productivity and biodiversity and waste management whilst at the same time increasing income. You will be set on the path to ecological and financial sustainability and your site will become an inspiration for the community around you. We have a demonstration site here at our LPC farm which we developed from nothing into a self-sustaining site in three years which you can always visit for free before we embark on a designing consultancy!
